Marriage to many people is a life priority. It can be compared to breathing. Marriage is just something that will inevitably happen because we want it to happen. Yet, so many people are afraid of what it can become, and the bad things that come with it. If you’re still living in fear, here are a few secrets that married couples from around the world have discovered over time. Secrets that will make your marriage stronger, longer-lasting, and of course happier.

Don’t Trust Your Flesh

Your flesh wants to do things your heart does not. This includes cheating on your spouse, or coming up with alternatives to date if your marriage sours. This softens your resolve to see a marriage through and love your spouse the way they should be loved. The best way for you to avoid conflicts is to minimize your interactions with the opposite sex in less than friendly way. If you can’t trust yourself, avoid it.

Always Give Your Full Attention

So many times the opposite member of the marriage isn’t paying enough attention. As humans we crave attention. We want people to notice the things we say and the things we do. That doesn’t change with you or your spouse. If you want their attention, first give them yours. It shouldn’t be a tradeoff. It should happen naturally and without delay. Always listen to your spouse and give suggestions when they seek it out. Remember, they did not marry you for no reason. They obviously believe that you have something worth saying.

Share Activities

Any relationship can grow and bloom when you share activities that you enjoy together. This could be a walk in the park, a bike ride, or even going out to dinner and seeing a movie. Whatever the activity the important thing is for you two both enjoy it. If you two don’t have too much in common, try to switch what you do off. Learn more about one another and watch your marriage become happier before your eyes!

Respect One Another

Respecting another person should be basic mannerism. The amount of marriages that dissolved due to a lack of respect is tremendous. Always respect one another and your marriage will see a lot less fights.

Marriage isn’t something that should be taken lightly. It is life-binding and should be treated as such. If you see divorce as an option, you’ve already failed.
