The Importance of Fiber in your diet

After doing some extensive research in to the important of fiber in our diets I have found some very interesting facts about the nutrient to our bodies. We all know that fiber helps our digestive system flows regularly, helping to fight numerous diseases such as constipation, also even a risk to colon cancer.

People who eat greater amounts of fiber are generally healthier people, have more energy and statistics show weight less than the average American. All these things are positive additions to consuming greater amounts of fiber in our diets. Another interesting thing I discovered about fiber was that if you consume the correct amount on a daily basis the body lets go of 25% of the fat you consume in a day. That means 25% of any fat we eat during a normal day will completely disappear if you make sure you eat the correct dose of fiber that day. It is very important that we understand how our bodies work on the inside if we want to figure out how to lose weight effectively and keep the weight off.  How this works is that Fiber moves fat through our digestive system faster so that less of it is absorbed. Fiber makes us feel full sooner and stays in our stomach longer than other substances we eat, slowing down our rate of digestion and keeping us feeling full longer. Due to its greater fiber content, a single serving of whole grain bread can be more filling than two servings of white bread.

The way to in cooperate more fiber is to eat more whole and natural foods and stay away from the processed foods. Again, similar to the gluten free diet, intentionally increasing fiber in your diet keeps you away from the processed foods, which can only be a good thing right. The foods we can get the best sources of fiber are beans, peas, fruits and brown rice. However I know from experience this is not an easy thing to do, plus neither is it the cheapest road to go down. A good way to combat this road block is a fiber supplement. These are inexpensive and you can measure how much fiber so you know exactly how much fiber you and your family are receiving every single day! It’s the ideal way to make sure your getting the correct nutrients and living a healthier lifestyle. I am an expert in dietary supplements and have many years experience in diet and nutrition so please don’t hesitate to call or email me with any questions regarding nutritional questions. I would love to help you and your family.
