Most are aware of some of the more common factors that cause bad breath, but few individuals ever inquire about how they can prevent bad breath from occurring.

For those individuals that suffer from chronic bad breath they should talk about it with their dentist or even their doctor. In some cases bad breath could be occurring due to some serious issues.

Another way to prevent bad breath is to visit the dentist regularly. It is recommended that individuals go to the dentist once every six months or more often if it is recommended. During these visits individuals should get their teeth professionally cleaned and their teeth along with their gums should be examined. When individuals who have dental problems get treatment for the problems as soon as they occur it also helps with bad breath prevention.

These dental problems can include decaying teeth, abscesses within the gums, or abscessed teeth. One of the easiest approaches to preventing bad breath is by chewing parsley after eating.

Parsley contains a component that is known to be a breath freshener called chlorophyll. By putting a couple of drops of tea tree oil or of peppermint oil directly on your tongue or on your toothbrush with your toothpaste during brushing it can also prevent bad breath.

Individuals should use toothpaste and mouthwash that has these oils within them. These two oils have certain antibacterial properties that fight off halitosis. The only way that smokers can prevent the bad breath that occurs due to their smoking habits is by quitting smoking altogether.
