When people hear the word lipo, they’d immediately think about the tube that is inserted inside the body to suck out the fat. But did you know that the procedure now comes with a variety of choices?.
For those who were left unhappy with their previous lipo surgery or for those who only want a small amount of fat removed, a procedure called cool lipo may be their best bet.
The procedure is very similar to the traditional form of liposuction. The main difference is that this is a lot less invasive. This can even target the small regions in your body. If you have problems with your abdomen, buttocks, arms, breasts (for men), and thighs, the cool lipo can very well take care of these. This is also particularly helpful when you see that your skin has begun to sag.
As you age, your chin, knees, and the back of your arm will go down south. Instead of going under the knife, you can look into this procedure instead. Where the first form of liposuction has failed, the cool lipo can actually be very effective.
How is the cool lipo done? First of all, the doctor will inject you with only a local anesthesia. This will only numb the target area and will be a lot safer. General anesthesia, as common as they are, still poses more risks on patients. Once you feel the numbness on your skin, the surgeon creates an incision so that he will be able to inject laser into it.
As mentioned earlier, fat will not be removed via the cannula. Instead, the laser releases energy into your body so fat is melted. It touched the area found right below your skin and won’t go deeper than that. When fat is melted, your body is stimulated to produce more collagen. Over time, the levels increase and your skin will tighten.
You skin will be able to successfully adapt to your body’s new shape. Like a mold, it will follow the contours so that it looks normal. With a normal lipo, some patients will be required to go for further surgery in the future to tighten the skin that has become loose.
Usually, the fat will be left inside the body and will be removed through your system’s natural process. You shouldn’t expect to stay in the hospital for more than half a day. In fact, you can expect to go home as soon as you’re finished.
As soon as the doctor is done, you will be asked to cover the area with a dressing. It takes only about two to three days until you can expose the skin. When you think about it, this is a lot faster than traditional lipo.
You also won’t have to suffer through a lot of pain. You might feel some slight discomfort, but you will be able to go through the healing process easily. In fact, you can resume your normal schedule a day after the procedure.
You’ll see a big difference within a week’s time. And in the next six months, skin texture and color will continue to get better within two to six months. Laser is inserted underneath your skin, so you don’t need to worry about pigmentation.
