Learning How To Love Starts With You

Women out there, if you are anything like me you will always put others before yourself.

I love unconditionally and will do almost anything for the people that I love, but then I end up resenting my loved ones that, in my opinion, do not reciprocate. I know that I should put myself first for a change, but I cannot bring myself to do it.

It is because I have come to realize that I need to feel happy in myself for other to benefit. Being about to love yourself can improve your most intimate relationships and is also something you can benefit from.

Neglecting yourself can lead to exhaustion because you will put things you have to do in front of your mental health. Running around running errand after errand is never a good thing. It can lead to depression and resentment, which in turn leads to withdrawal and constant mood swings that will alienate the people that you have tired yourself out for. By taking the time to relax and having a good dose of ‘me time’ you can avoid this altogether.

There are a number of ways in which this effect can be achieved. Making yourself happy is the key aim. If you are happy then you are eager to help others around you feel the same way by satisfying their needs as well as your own. By following the steps outlined below, you can enrich your own life as well as others.

Living a healthy lifestyle is the first and most important step. Eating the right foods will make you feel better in yourself. Sugary and fatty foods should be replaced with meat, fish, fruit and vegetables. Drink plenty of water and try and avoid drinking sugary and caffeinated drinks.

Exercise regularly and speed up your metabolism, thus increasing your energy. Do not skimp on sleep. OK so there are not enough hours in your day, but that is no excuse not to get your eight hours sleep. It ensures that you are fully alert and rational and leads to less stress.

Do not bottle anything up. It is mentally harmful to keep thoughts and feelings inside, whether they are positive or, more often than not, negative. If you cannot express yourself to a person, then keep a journal or write in a rant book every time you are starting to feel down.

If you are good at poetry, use that skill to express yourself. It relieves tension and immediately makes you feel better. Use pent up energy to do something round the house. Watch your favorite sad movie and use that as an excuse to cry. Do something creative because you have to use your emotions in order for anything creative to work. There are numerous ways to express yourself so choose the one that is best for you.

Forget the world for a few hours and spend some time by yourself. Instead of moping about and getting depressed, use the time to put your life in perspective. Take the time to get to know yourself properly, which is something not enough of us do.

Purposely choose the activities that relax you most, whether it be reading, listening to music or doing both whilst you are in the bath! Relaxation will allow you to let go of stress and tension whilst renewing your energy levels. Taking time away from the world is very rewarding and is something everyone deserves at some stage. Enjoying yourself is the key to leading a fulfilling life, so just do it!.
