How to Motivate Yourself to Lose Weight....there are several important factors you must learn in order to enjoy success. It is also all too easy to lose your motivation when times get tough!.

Set Realistic Goals

The first step in maintaining your motivation is to set realistic goals that you can achieve. If your goals are too high, you can easily lose motivation when it becomes obvious that you will not make your goal.

Don’t set yourself up for failure, instead set small, measurable goals that will lead to your ultimate weight loss goal.

Join or Form a Support Group

A support group can help you stay focused and accountable for your weight loss goal. It is easier to go off your diet when others have no expectations of you.

Once you’ve shared your goals with your support group, you feel obligated to keep striving to meet your goals.

Your support can be a group of caring friends and family or an organized group. You will find many opportunities to join an organized group at your local gym, churches and community centers.

Or, if you prefer, you can join an online group. Online groups allow you to participate at odd hours, whenever you may feel the need.

Organized support groups can give you the support you need to get through the hard times. They offer educational programs about healthy eating habits and exercise.

Lose Weight with Friends or Family

Tell your friends and family about your weight loss plan and enlist their support. Share your successes with them and ask them to keep you accountable.

Celebrate your successes and rely on supportive friends and family to help you get past disappointments and missed goals.

Everyone is Different

Avoid comparing yourself to others. Everyone is different and loses weight in different ways and at different rates.

How fast or slow you lose is not important. What is important is that you are constantly moving toward your ultimate goal. How fast you lose can depend on your body hormones and your body composition.

You will lose weight slower when you are actively building muscle, but you are actually losing more fat. Your weight doesn’t go down as fast because you are building muscle and muscle weighs more than fat.

Don’t worry, this increased muscle will burn more fat over the long term, making weight loss easier in the long term.

This is one of the reasons that men tend to lose weight faster than women. Men have a higher percentage of muscle in their bodies which burns fat faster.
