Has Your Dog Tried Holistic Dog Food?

Holistic dog food follows along from the principals of holistic medicine. The goal is for the body to maintain a healthy condition. This applies to both humans and dogs.

Holistic dog food is similar to organic food. It consists of a well balanced diet. Because dogs eat virtually the same food everyday, it is vitally important that they are receiving all; the nutrients they need in these minimal meals.

Like organic foods, holistic dog foods are natural and do not contain preservatives, hormones, by-products, antibiotics, colors, flavors or artificial ingredients. Many of these are found in regular off the shelf dog food.

By products found in regular dog foods can contain things like feet, bones and intestines. These are not ideal for your dog.

Holistic dog foods generally do not contain anything that would be not fit for human consumption.

People argue that it is not necessary to feed your dog a holistic or organic diet, because if they were in the wild they would most likely eat the by products of animals including feet, bones and intestines.

On the other hand, they would not be ingesting the preservatives and artificial substances found in mainstream dog foods.

Organic and holistic pet food consists of vitamins, minerals, fats and fatty acids.

They should be rich in antioxidants from fruits, vegetables and other natural sources.

Holistic dog food is an ideal choice for owners who want their pet to eat a natural and preservative free diet.
It is yet to be proven whether dogs on a holistic diet live longer than dog’s on a consumer pet food diet.
