You have met the person of your dreams and now you’re lucky enough to get yourself a first date.
Are you excited? Or are you a bundle of nerves? I bet it’s the latter. Don’t worry, it’s completely normal to feel nervous before a first date after all there are so many things to consider.
Not only will you need to think about what you’re going to wear, what gift you will take and what you will talk about – but you will also need to decide where you are going to go. Here are a few ideas and a little advice to ensure your first date with the person of your dreams goes smoothly.
The very first thing you must plan before your big first date arrives is where you will go. When planning where to go it’s best not to pick somewhere too outrageous if you don’t know your date that well. Stick to what you know works best such as the cinema, or a nice restaurant. If you are going on a date in the daytime why not go for a picnic in the park. If you know your date well and know what activities they enjoy then you can base your first date location on this.
The next thing you will want to think about is your appearance because first impressions really do count. When it comes to your appearance you should remember that your date already likes the way you look otherwise they wouldn’t have agreed to a date in the first place (not unless of course it’s a blind date). The clothes you wear will depend on your date location. For example, if you are going to a restaurant wear smart attire, and if you are going to the park then choose something more casual. When thinking about your appearance for your first date it’s always best to try and look your best.
Next you will need to think about bringing your date a gift – again the gift you choose will depend on how well you know him or her. If you don’t know them too well then consider taking something simple like a bunch of flowers, wine or chocolates. Not every first date requires that you bring a gift, but if you want to make a good impression then I suggest you do.
If you want a second, third or even fourth date with the person of your dreams then it’s important to ensure you first date goes as well as it can. A sure fire way to make your first date a success is to always remember your manners and treat your date with respect. Opening doors, and pulling out chairs always goes a long way. Another first date rule is to always listen to him or her when they are talking to you.
Remember, dating is meant to be fun. Don’t let your nerves spoil what could be your very first with the man or woman of your dreams. Take note of the above tips and things should turn out okay.
