Diet Reviews - The Anti-Aging Diet!

by Babs 'O' Reilly
(Miami Beach, Florida, USA)

Not all diets are about losing weight. In fact, what you eat and how you treat your body has a lot to do with your age - or as Dr. Oz says, your “real age”. You can age yourself by eating the wrong things.

The good news is, you can also make yourself younger, or at least you can make your health equivalent to a younger age. It all depends on what you eat. Here’s a quick look at an anti-aging diet.

The Basics

An anti-aging diet is often more about a holistic approach to health and vitality. Besides eating the right foods, you also want to:

* Reduce stress
* Get good sleep
* Smile and laugh
* Exercise

There are many different approaches to an anti-aging diet; however, one expert in the field of anti-aging lifestyles and diets is Dr. Perricone.

He’s a worldwide expert in anti-aging and has an abundance of resources and products dedicated to the cause. His relevant books include:

* Forever Young
* 7 Secrets to Beauty, Health and Longevity
* The Perricone Prescription

He also has a diet book titled The Perricone Weight Loss Diet. While Dr. Perricone knows his stuff, you can create your own anti-aging diet.

Anti-Aging Foods

Anti-aging foods are foods that reduce inflammation in our bodies and also reduce or eliminate cellular damage. These foods are called antioxidants. Here’s what you need:

* Omega fatty acids - These reduce inflammation in your body and can be found in fish, whole grains and nuts and seeds.

* Fruits and vegetables - You know you need your RDA, right? And you also know that a multi-vitamin, while still smart to take, won’t provide all the benefits of fresh fruits and vegetables.

Berries, veggies and dark leafy greens go a long way toward making you look and feel ten years younger.

* Whole grains - We already mentioned that whole grains have omega fatty acids in them. They also provide the fiber your body needs to lower your blood cholesterol. Finally, they contain phyto-nutrients similar to fruits and veggies.

* Lean protein - Protein is necessary to moderate blood sugar levels and it helps build and maintain your muscles. Your body also needs the amino acids found in protein to stay healthy and strong.

However, you can be a vegetarian and get all the protein you need from beans, nuts, rice, eggs and other sources. In fact, a meal of beans and rice offers a complete protein.

In addition to the main food categories listed above, consider adding these to your daily diet:

* Greek yogurt
* Water
* Beans/Legumes

A little dark chocolate, green tea and red wine is also good for longevity and anti-aging.

To look and feel young, modify your diet to eliminate saturated and trans fats. Reduce sugar and starchy carbs and make sure you get plenty of exercise, fresh air and laughter. Eat well, treat yourself well and you’ll feel great.
