Benefits of Regular Exercise

Do you need some good reasons to encourage you to exercise regularly? Did you know that exercise and is good for you? Of course you did. Here are some specific benefits of regular exercise. I think they will surprise you!

Exercise helps you loose weight and burn fat. When you participate in physical activity, you burn calories. The more intense the activity, the more calories you burn – and the easier it is to keep your weight under control. Here are some simple ways to do this. Walk during your lunch break. Jog in place during television commercials. Take the stairs instead of the elevator. Take a brisk walk. Dedicated workouts are great, but physical activity you accumulate throughout the day helps you burn calories, too.

Exercise combats chronic diseases. Regular physical activity can help you prevent – or manage – high blood pressure. Your cholesterol will benefit, too. Regular physical activity helps to increase high-density lipoprotein (HDL), or “good,” cholesterol while decreasing triglycerides. This two for one benefit keeps your blood flowing smoothly by lowering the buildup of plaques in your arteries. Also, regular physical activity can help you prevent type II diabetes, osteoporosis and certain types of cancer. Additionally preventing or managing high blood pressure and diabetes helps to prevent kidney disease.

Here are two benefits of regular exercise that may sound like complete opposites. It increases your energy level and promotes better sleep. That sounds pretty crazy doesn’t it? Physical activity delivers oxygen and nutrients to your tissues and it helps your entire circulatory system, the circulation of your blood through your heart and blood vessels, work more efficiently. When your heart and lungs work more efficiently, you’ll have more energy to do the things you enjoy.

A good night’s sleep can improve your concentration, productivity and mood. Physical activity can be the key to better sleep. Regular physical activity can help you fall asleep faster and deepen your sleep. One thing to remember though, if you exercise too close to bedtime, you may be too energized to fall asleep. If you’re having trouble sleeping, you might want to exercise earlier in the day. This is why I exercise first thing in the morning; it energizes me for my day and makes me tired by bedtime so that I sleep better.

Physical activity stimulates several different chemicals in your brain that may leave you feeling happier and more relaxed than you were before you worked out. It will also make you look and feel better when you exercise regularly, which can improve your confidence and self-esteem. Regular physical activity also helps to prevent depression.

Here is an extra special bonus. Regular exercise can leave you feeling energized and looking better, which may have a positive effect on your sex life. Regular physical activity can lead to enhanced arousal for women, and men who exercise regularly are less likely to have problems with erectile dysfunction than are men who don’t exercise – especially as they get older.
